The Blue Raiders women’s basketball squad will be without one of its young players this season. Sophomore guard Shy Copney has decided to transfer to another school.

Despite participating in preseason activities, Copney informed head coach Rick Insell that she would not be playing for Middle Tennessee this season.

While she is still enrolled at Middle Tennessee, Copney is no longer listed on the Middle Tennessee roster.

“We wish Shy the best in her future endeavors,” Insell stated in his press release according to the Daily News Journal. “She recently informed our staff of her desire to transfer to another school.”

Copney played in seven games and scored a total of seven points as a freshman. Her best performance came against Kennesaw State, when she played for seven minutes with a three-pointer, three rebounds, one assist and a block.

Before coming to Middle Tennessee, Copney attended Science Hill high school in Johnson City, Tennessee, where she earned All-State honors as a senior.
