MURFREESBORO – After securing a berth in the NCAA Regionals for the first-ever time in the program’s 14-year history last week, the Middle Tennessee women’s golf team found out its fate on Monday.
The Blue Raiders were placed as a No. 15 seed in the West Region. The NCAA West Regional will be played at Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Course in St. George, Utah on May 7-9.
The postseason format includes four regionals of 18 teams each. The top six teams from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championship in Brazleton, Fla., which takes place on May 22-27.
The teams in the NCAA West Regional are as follows: 1. USC, 2. Arkansas, 3. Virginia, 4. Stanford, 5. Vanderbilt, 6. UNLV, 7. San Diego State, 8. Miami (Fla.), 9. Colorado, 10. California, 11. SMU, 12. TCU, 13. Denver, 14. Wisconsin, 15. MTSU, 16. New Mexico State, 17. Northern Arizona, 18. Albany.
According to Golfweek, 12 of the 18 teams in MTSU’s regional are ranked in the top-50, with USC being the highest at No. 3.
The Blue Raiders picked up their first conference title in program history last week at the Conference USA Championship. They blitzed the rest of the field, beating second-place Florida International by eight shots. MTSU’s Samantha Gotcher finished second in individual play, ending just one shot behind FIU’s Meghan MacLaren.
The three-round tournament will begin on May 7. Each round will include 18 holes.
