The Theta-Omega Chapter of Sigma Pi has been suspended after a homemade banner reading “Freshman girls info center” was seen hanging outside a second floor window of the organization’s off-campus fraternity house, which is located on Middle Tennessee Boulevard, yesterday.
Photos of the banner were posted on social media and the incident was reported to MTSU officials by “a local fraternity leadership,” according to Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN.
WKRN also reports that fraternity members claim the banner was only posted for “five or 10 minutes,” while university officials say it was reportedly up for approximately 30 minutes.
The national organization, located in Lebanon, Tennessee, released a statement saying, “We are working closely with the administration at MTSU as we investigate the matter, and the students that are found responsible will face disciplinary action.”
This follows controversy earlier this week when another MTSU fraternity, Sigma Chi, had a Confederate Flag hanging in one of the front windows in their house on Greek Row. This also follows the Old Dominion Chapter of Sigma Nu being suspended last week over similar “freshman girls” banners.

Why did you source an on-campus story from WKRN? Seems like a natural for student and administration interviews.
One would think, however, the university would not get back with our news editor, and the fraternity was not speaking with anyone at the time.
