On September 11, we will pay our respects to the thousands of American men and women who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks now 15 years ago. The following memorial events are being held in Nashville and Murfreesboro:

  • 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Nashville– On Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m., 343 firefighters will climb 110 stories at the William R. Snodgrass Tennesee Tower in Downtown Nashville. The climb is made to honor the 343 firefighters who lost their lives responding to the infamous attack on the Twin Towers. All funds raised during the ceremony will support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
  • 9/11 Observance Ceremony on MTSU campus- At 7:30 a.m, Sunday, MTSU will hold a memorial ceremony led by the cadets of the MTSU Department of Military Science. It will take place outside the Tom H. Jackson building at the Veteran’s Memorial Site. The event’s speakers are the senior adviser for veterans and leadership initiatives at MTSU, Keith M. Huber, and Sidney McPhee, the university president. The ceremony will include remarks from students and speakers, a moment of silence, and a performance of taps.
  • 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office- The ceremony, hosted by the sheriff’s office , will commemorate the emergency personal, law enforcement, and citizens who died during the attack. It will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday and will include Col. Jeff Davidson as the keynote speaker.
