The Swell Season’s Markéta Irglová played an intimate show at Nashville’s City Winery Wednesday night in support of her second solo album Muna.

The evening began with Rosi Golan, a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter who was accompanied by guitarist and backup vocalist Brandon Walters. Golan’s airy, delicate voice flowed throughout the open venue, softly hitting high notes throughout the set. Golan later invited songwriters Jason Reeves and Jake Phillips to the stage to sing “Flicker,” a song the three wrote together.

After a brief intermission between sets, Irglová sat down at the piano and was joined onstage by Golan, Aida Shahghasemi and Swell Season bandmates Joe Doyle and Rob Bochniki. Front and center, Shahghasemi provided spellbinding harmonies while playing the daf, an Iranian round-frame drum made of wood and goatskin.

Irglová’s set centered around her latest release, though the 26-year-old singer revisited her Swell Season roots with “If You Want Me” and “Falling Slowly,” both featured in the 2007 film Once starring Irglová and Glen Hansard.

Later in the performance, Irglová performed an unreleased track called “Only Love Is Real,” which she said was “unfinished,” but will possibly appear on her next record.

The evening concluded with Irglová gracing the stage alone for the first song of an alluring three-song encore. She was later joined by the rest of the group to perform a song written by Golan, as well as an extended version of The Swell Season’s “I Have Loved You Wrong.”
