Dog Haus Biergarten first opened in 2010 in Pasadena, California, and it has now opened its 30th location, and the first one in Tennessee, at 521 NW Broad Street. The inventive gourmet hot dog joint celebrated its grand opening Saturday and even served guests free “Haus dogs” all day. Excitement in the city was evident by a seemingly endless line.

“I’ve been pretty excited. I drive past this (place) everyday so I have been wondering when it was gonna come up. I got the Old Town, and it was really good,” said Jake Petty, a senior at MTSU.

Larry Lavigne, owner of Dog Haus Murfreesboro, said that Dog Haus is unlike other restaurants here in Murfreesboro because of its rich flavors and menu combinations. He’s also excited to be located near MTSU’s campus; students will receive a discounted price by showing their student ID.

“We’re just excited to serve the community the best dog we can serve,” Lavigne said.

“We waited in line for about 40 minutes, but it was well worth the wait,” added Althea Straughter. “The hot dog was very meaty, it was huge, but it wasn’t greasy. It was awesome.”

Dog Haus’ specialty in hot dogs is unique, but it’s not the only thing that will keep customers coming back. The atmosphere was overly welcoming, and many have already claimed that they will return because of it.

Avery Alsup, an MTSU alumna, said this will be one of her go-to places.

“I like bars and bars with good food, so this hits all of the things for me,” she said. Petty concurred, adding that people can go there for a good food and a good time without breaking the bank.

No hormones or antibiotics are ever added to the Dog Haus’ meats; their hot dogs are 100 percent beef. Lavigne said these commitments go back to the restaurants motto:

“What do we want to eat? Personally, we want to eat the cleanest foods and we want to give that to our customers. We think our customers and our communities deserve the same thing, so we go that extra mile. We try to preserve a good price point so that everyone can enjoy it.”

Dog Haus has it all from a fun environment to ingenious menu combinations. Director of Operations Brian Griffith said that Dog Haus is “happy to be a part of a growing community.” Well, Murfreesboro is just as happy this restaurant is finally here.
