Middle Tennessee softball decimated Columbia State 14-0 Friday night in the Blue Raiders most recent away game.
Morgan Harris scored in the bottom half of the second. Later in the inning, Makenzie Prince scored two runs with a single. Precious Birdsong would notch a run on a squeeze play, giving the Blue Raiders a 4-0 advantage after two innings.
Both teams went scoreless again in the third. Birdsong scored two runs in the fourth inning with a single.
Middle Tennessee’s offense exploded in the fifth inning, as the Blue Raiders scored four runs on two RBI doubles, all coming with two outs.
The Chargers’ half of the sixth ended in a 5-2-3 double play, keeping Columbia State at zero. Austyn Whaley tacked on two more with two outs in the bottom half of the inning.
The Blue Raiders scored two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to put the score at 14-0.
