As MTSU resumes classes after this week’s winter weather, students have flocked to social media to express their thoughts and concerns on campus’ icy conditions.
Even though the university closed three days for inclement weather, many thought the closure should continue due to icy road and sidewalk conditions throughout Middle Tennessee.
Last night, many took the opportunity to make jokes about the impeding return to campus:

However, once students started their treks to class, the conversation quickly changed tones:
If I wreck on my icy road, it’s MTSU’s fault. — Megan Nichols (@megannichols91) February 19, 2015
THANK YOU MTSU FOR OPENING TODAY WHEN THE HIGH IS 17 AND NONE OF THE ICE IS MELTING. MY CAR CANT LEAVE MY DRIVEWAY AND I MISSED A TEST

Witnessed 4 people slip & fall before 10am. Thanks so much MTSU for ensuring the environment was safe enough for us to return. @MTSUProbz

The students felt that the university could have better prepared for their return, with some feeling that reopening campus while sidewalks and paths were iced over displayed a lack of regard for student safety.
