Nashville Fashion Week kicked off with a runway showcase of seven designers at Acme Feed & Seed on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. The showcase had a 70s feel with many designers flaunting flared jeans, geometric patterns and vintage inspired pieces. The event was sold out.
Ona Rex:
Ona Rex is a womenswear brand from Nashville, Tenn. designed by Ashley Balding. Balding hand-dyes her fabrics and incorporates tedious hand stitching.
Van Hoang:
Van Hoang is a womenswear designer from Knoxville, Tenn. Her focus is on sustainability and fine craftsmanship.
Ola Mai:
Ola Mai is a womenswear brand designed by MTSU Textiles and Merchandising alumnus Leslie Stephens. The name is derived from Stephens’ grandmother who inspires her collections.
Eric Adler:
Eric Adler is a menswear designer with a uniquely American focus. Adler has an eco-friendly approach to his designs and studied under well-known Nashville image creator Manuel.
Pink Elephants:
Pink Elephants is a womenswear line curated by Turvy Alvarenga. Alvarenga graduated from International Academy of Design and Technology in Nashville and interned with Anna Su in New York City.
Black by Maria Silver:
Black by Maria Silver is a contemporary womenswear line that combines urban nonchalance and easy glamour. Maria Silver is a Dominican-American designer who also plays drums.
Amanda Valentine:
Amanda Valentine was a contestant on Project Runway season 11 and 13, where she placed second. Valentine’s line is based in Nashville.
