Murfreesboro police responded to a disturbance call at House of Hummus on Middle Tennessee Blvd. early Thursday morning.

According to incident reports, Ashley Morris, a server of the restaurant, had requested her due pay and gotten into a verbal altercation with owner Mousa Aburayas.

After the arguement, Aburayas, 28, told police that $424 dollars had gone missing from the cash register. Morris was allegedly the only person in the restaurant with access to the register at the time.

After the money went missing, Morris quit and tired to leave. Morris told police the Aburayas “forcibly kept her from leaving.” After she paid back $200, Morris was able to leave the restaurant, according to the incident report.

Morris was charged with theft and Aburayas was charged with simple assault and false imprisonment.
