Mizzou journalism school trash talks MTSU, deletes tweet

The Missouri University School of Journalism preemptively tweeted to its students about staying objective in their game coverage when the Mizzou Tigers were to “stomp all over” the Blue Raiders during Saturday’s game. Unfortunately for the team, MTSU spoiled the MU homecoming with a 51-45 win. But the SoJ took an even bigger loss as the Twitter account Freezing Cold Takes screen grabbed and shared the boastful tweet later deleted by the school.

In sweet homecoming comeuppance, the SEC team, who went in to the game 8-point favorites, fell to the Blue Raiders and the j-school found themselves “stomped all over” as the tweet garnered criticism from professional journalists on Twitter.

The school of journalism account has not addressed the deleted tweet as of Sunday morning.

While the tweet was intended to teach students about objectivity, the real lesson learned from Mizzou this weekend is to not tweet your words if you are not prepared to eat your words.
