Packs of people lingered outside of The End in Nashville for about an hour before doors even opened for the Tiny Moving Parts show Sunday night. The house was already packed before Fever Blush, the opening band, came onstage.
Fever Blush played a relatively short set, featuring songs off of their recent EP, “Remember, Forget,” in which the lead singer’s haunting voice filled up the crowded venue.
Oso Oso was the second band onstage, starting out with “This Must Be My Exit” and continuing to highlight songs from their first album, “Real Stories of True People,” as well as their newest album, “The Yunahon Mixtape,” which was released in January of this year.
Mom Jeans played next, jumping onto the stage and fully interacting with the crowd. Bassist Gabriel Paganin used the quiet spaces of guitar tunings between each song to tell dad jokes. They played favorites like “Death Cup” and “Edward 40hands” and even introduced the crowd to new songs that will be released with their new album later this year. Mom Jeans incorporated other instruments in their performance, like a trumpet and trombone. Overall, they set the mood for Tiny Moving Parts’ highly anticipated set perfectly.
Somehow the room became even more packed as Tiny Moving Parts set up the stage, and everyone was on their toes in anticipation. They started out strong with a song from their new album, “Applause.” The crowd sang along to every word, danced and even moshed as they continued on, playing songs from their old albums. Songs like “Wildfire,” “Caution” and “Always Focused” were just a few of the highlights. Dylan Matthiesen, lead guitarist and singer, was interactive with the crowd, frequently exclaiming “F–k yeah, Nashville!” and smiling so hard his teeth could be seen glimmering onstage from the back of the venue. Overall, the show was fantastic. The venue was small and incredibly crowded, but all the bands, especially Mom Jeans and Tiny Moving Parts, put on a remarkable show.
Tiny Moving Parts will be back in Nashville on May 19, 2018, supporting The Wonder Years and Tigers Jaw at the Basement East.
