On March 28, MTSU campus police responded to a suspicious person reported on campus at the library quad where they encountered 56-year-old Edward Osborne.

According to campus police, Osborne smelled like alcohol and was not aware of his surroundings. Upon checking Osborne’s license, campus police discovered that the suspect already had an active criminal trespass warning from 1996.

Osborne was arrested due to the risk of being a danger to himself and others. Once in custody, campus police searched Osborne and found a bag of marijuana in his pocket.

Campus police charged Osborne with public intoxication, simple possession of marijuana and criminal trespassing. The suspect was taken to Rutherford County Jail.
