Acorn Festival, a new music event, will be held in Murfreesboro this Saturday.

The festival features a range of indie rock, folk and Americana music. Locally and nationally known artists will showcase their talent at Murfreesboro’s Oakland Park grounds.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and Oakland Park have partnered to create the music festival. Food trucks and beer vendors serving craft beer will be available.

Among the lineup is Murfreesboro-based band Mountains Like Wax, winners of Lightning 100’s Battle of the Bands. They are enthusiastic to return to their hometown to play another show.

Frontier Ruckus, a folk rock band from Detroit, Mich., will headline the festival with a 90-minute performance to close the night. The inaugural event is set to be a positive new entity for Murfreesboro.

Oakland Park is located at the corner of North Highland Avenue. and Robert Street. Gates will open at 3 p.m. on Saturday with music starting around 4 p.m.

Wristbands are required to enter and can be purchased at the gate or online for $10.
