FINAL, UT takes down MTSU 85-41

The No.15 Tennessee Lady Vols (4-1) walked into the Murphy Center and took over the court immediately with an 11-0 run before the Middle Tennessee Lady Raiders (2-3) scored a point. A complete offensive barrage carried Rocky Top to its fourth win of the season, as the group shot 47.1% from the floor and 23.5% from three.

MTSU struggled heavily on offense, scoingno more than 14 points in each quarter. The Lady Vols employed a full-court press that wrecked havoc against Middle Tennessee, causing 25 turnovers.

Both sides are starting to empty the benches, with Emily Monson and Jenna McClendon preparing to check in for the Lady Raiders. Tennessee is looking to salt away the final four and a half minutes and preserve its near 30 point lead.

Star sophomore guard Savannah Davis has fouled out as well for the Lady Raiders. Davis leaves the game with 18 of the Lady Raiders’ 35 points.

MTSU’s Blair Baugus has fouled out of the game. Redshirt sophomore Stanislava Kabernick has entered for the Lady Raiders.

Baugus’ final stats: Four points, seven rebounds while shooting 2-11 from the field.

The Blue Raiders’ offense puts up its best ten minutes of the night, scoring 14 points. The Lady Vols cruised through the period, putting up only 18, the lowest for them on the night.

Davis is leading the way for MTSU with 16 points while Barker and Cooper have 15 and 13 respectively for the Lady Vols.

A three and a mid-range jumper from Savannah Davis has been all the scoring the Blue Raiders have been able to muster so far in the second half. UT’s offense is starting to slow down, totaling only eight points so far.

MTSU goes scoreless for over seven and a half minutes before a Baugus layup at the 2:29 mark. A three from Contreras sends the Lady Raiders to the locker room with a good taste in their mouth.

On the flip side, UT is doing whatever they want on the offensive end and finding themselves in transition quite a bit. The Lady Vols have forced 17 turnovers, and have 30 points off turnovers.
