FINAL, Oakland wins 62-21 over Ravenwood to repeat as 6A BlueCross Bowl Champions

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee- The Oakland Patriots (14-0) find themselves on top of the Tennessee 6A high school football world once again after taking down the Ravenwood High School Raptors (13-1) 62-21.

Running back Craig Tutt received MVP honors for a seven touchdown performance, tying a TSSAA record after Beech’s Jalen Hurd set the mark in 2012. Tutt barreled into the endzone as time expired to score lucky number seven, sealing the Patriots’ fate as back-to-back champions.

This is Oakland’s ninth state title, and the fifth in the last sixth years for the Patriots.

Tutt punches it in for his sixth rushing touchdown of the night. Oakland leads 56-21.

Q4 5:30 TOUCHDOWN OAKLAND

Tutt finds the end zone for the fifth time tonight, this time from 16 yards out. The Ole Miss commit grows the Patriots’ lead to 47-21 as they look for their second straight 6A state title.

Oakland goes for two and converts, with Morton running into the end zone to extend the lead to 49-21.

Babalola crosses the goal line from one yard away for his first score of the night, marking back-to-back touchdown drives for the Raptors.

Longley hauled in his second big pass of the night, this time connecting with Babalola for 30 yards. This was a large chunk of the five-play, 75-yard Ravenwood drive.

Oakland’s lead has been cut to 41-21.

Tutt strikes again with his fourth touchdown of the night, breaking free for a 47-yard touchdown. Oakland attempts to go for two, and the conversion is no good. The Patriots lead now sits at 41-14, and it seems as though that will seal the deal from Finley Stadium with ten minutes left.

Chance lowers his shoulder and tumbles into the end zone for his second score of the night. The Navy commit has produced the majority of Ravenwood’s offense tonight, with 82 passing yards and 68 rushing yards to go with his two scores.

The Raptors’ extra point is good, and Oakland’s has been cut to 35-14.

END Q3, Oakland leads 35-7

It looks like the Oakland Patriots are 12 minutes away from their second consecutive BlueCross Bowl victory win, and ninth state title overall.

Oakland scored on its first drive of the second half, finishing with a three-yard score by Morton. Since then, the 6A BlueCross Bowl has slowed down and turned into a defense battle, although the Raptors are threatening with Chance at quarterback and the ball on the Patriot 19-yard line.

Kam Morton dives into the end zone to grow Oakland’s lead after a three-yard rush. Morton’s first score of the night finishes a four-play, 23-yard drive after the Patriots started on the Ravenwood 23 due to a 20-yard punt by the Raptors.

Oakland now leads 35-7, with all five touchdowns coming on the ground.

HALFTIME, Oakland leads 28-7

The Patriots’ rushing attack has been dominant in the first 24 minutes against Ravenwood, with all four touchdowns coming on the ground. Tutt has led the way with three scores and 86 yards, while Cameron has 88 and a score of his own.

Oakland’s defense has been stout against Ravenwood’s two-quarterback system, as only Chance broke through on a one-yard score. Babalola only has three yards on two pass attempts and seven yards on the ground, while his counterpart has 42 passing yards and 47 rushing yards.

Tutt completes his hat trick in the first half as he finds his third score of the game from the three-yard line. Oakland’s two-minute drill drive was made possible by a 30-yard pass from Cameron to Will Millsap.

Maverick Chance dives into the end zone from one yard out to put Ravenwood on the board. Chance picked up 30 yards with his legs on the Raptors’ last five plays, finishing it off with a full extension to cross the goal line.

The drive was fueled by a 42-yard pass from Chance to Cy Longley. Guerra Garza’s extra point is good to cut the lead to 21-7.

Tutt scampers in from 12 yards out for his second score of the night to finish off a methodical 10-play, 67-yard drive. The extra point is good to extend the lead to 21-0 over Ravenwood.

The Patriots came out hot thanks to a 41-yard rush by the quarterback Thornton on the fourth play of the third drive. Oakland followed up with a blocked punt leading to a three-yard rush by the Ole Miss commit Tutt.

Ravenwood’s offense has struggled to find any space to work with, as the Patriots have plugged nearly every rush attempt at the line of scrimmage. The Raptors have not moved the chains through the first 12 minutes, the Oakland holding them to no first downs.

Oakland has the ball on its own 49-yard line.

Oakland recovers the kickoff after the Raptors’ return team muffed the kick. Tutt with a big hit and forced fumble, recovery by Williams. Patriots will have the ball on the Ravenwood 37-yard line.
