Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 12

It is a crucial time in the season for fantasy football owners. Everyone is getting ready to make that big playoff push while trying to figure out ways to stay competitive even when their big stars are out with injuries. If you are looking for handcuffs for your big stars or just another piece to add from the waiver wire, here are a few suggestions for you.

Danny Amendola, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots– Although the New England Patriots are one of the only two undefeated teams left in the NFL, those wins have not come without a price. Running Back Dion Lewis is out for the season, and wide receiver Julian Edelman will also miss some time. With Edelman out, Danny Amendola should fit right into his role and produce right away. Amendola caught ten passes last week against the Giants, expect that volume to increase over the last few weeks of the season.

Thomas Rawls, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks– Following Marshawn Lynch’s game-time decision last week, Rawls stepped right into the starting lineup and made a huge impact. The rookie from Central Michigan finished with 30 carries for 209 yards and a touchdown, and also caught three passes for 46 yards and a score. With Marshawn Lynch’s health a concern, Rawls is a valuable asset to have, even when Lynch is back in starting lineup.

Brock Osweiler, Quarterback, Denver Broncos– Osweiler made his first career start last Sunday against the Chicago Bears, finishing with 250 yards, a pair of touchdowns, and 18 fantasy points. Osweiler could prove to be a valuable player for your fantasy team. Peyton Manning continues to deal with an injury, and will miss at least another week. Osweiler is also in a contract year, and the Broncos are trying to figure out if he can be their quarterback in the post-Manning era. With four years of learning behind one of the all-time greats under his belt, Osweiler could provide a spark for any fantasy lineup.

Ronnie Hillman, Running Back, Denver Broncos– Staying with the Broncos here, running back Ronnie Hillman is another solid option to have. Against the Bears, Hillman finished with 102 yards rushing and 10 fantasy points, albeit against one of the weaker run defenses in the league. Hillman has become the Broncos’ top running back on the depth chart, ahead of CJ Anderson. With Osweiler filling in for Peyton Manning, head coach Gary Kubiak will want to take as much pressure off of him as possible.
