MTSU student sexually assualted on campus

An MTSU student was sexually assaulted Saturday on campus, according to an MTSU Advisory email.

The assailant was not an MTSU student, and the victim told University Police yesterday that she met her assailant through an online dating app.

According to the advisory email, the student declined medical treatment after reporting the incident. At this time, it is unknown if the student will be pressing charges.

University Police offered this advice in the email for using online dating apps and meeting people for the first time:

  • “Get to know the person before meeting them.”
  • “Meet in a public place.”
  • “Tell a friend or family member where and when you are having the meeting.”
  • “Drive yourself.”
