Nashville rock outfit The Wild Feathers made their claim as one of Tennessee’s best up and coming bands Thursday as they made their Bonnaroo debut.

Their Thursday afternoon set drew a large audience for what was one of the earliest performances of the festival. The band’s energy kept the crowd moving and singing along throughout the entirety of the group’s hour-long set.

However, while the band got their performance out of the way the first hours of the weekend, the band doesn’t have plans to leave the farm any time soon.

“I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of people,” says bassist Joel King in an interview before their set. “I haven’t seen Jack White solo before, so I’m excited to see that. I’ve been a fan of his for a long time.”

King, whose favorite Bonnaroo moment was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers2013 performance of “Free Fallin’,” also said they’d be sure to see their peers as well as their idols.

“We’re gonna see a lot of friends that we’ve played with, like Cage the Elephant,” King said. “We’ve known those guys since they started and it’ll be weird because I haven’t seen them in two or three years.”

The band also made sure to give advice to any upcoming musicians that aspire to one day play on the farm.

“Just go with the flow, [and] do what you wanna do,” said King. “Really you’ve just got to go with whatever your gut tells you. Whatever feels right, is right.”
