A student walking through the Fairview parking lot on Monday afternoon reported a robbery, MTSU Police said in a campus-wide alert.

The student said a man walked up to her in the parking lot and attempted to grab her purse while she walked through the 820 Fairview Ave. parking lot. When the suspect could not successfully steal the victim’s purse, she said he fled the scene in a blue four-door sedan.

The suspect is described as a thin black male in his 20s wearing brown khaki shorts and a blue shirt.

The victim was not injured.

The campus advisory was sent to all students as a result of the Jeanne Clery Act.
