The Student Government Association will hold open voting to the MTSU student body to change the minimum GPA requirements for students to serve in the student government between Feb. 24 and 27.

Last spring, the SGA Senate voted to amend the current GPA requirement for students to be eligable to serve on the SGA Senate and Executive Board. The eligibility requirement is currrently a 2.3 cumulative GPA to serve on the Senate and a 2.5 cumulative GPA to serve on the SGA Executive Board.

The bill proposed would raise the GPA eligability requirement for the Senate to a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a 2.75 cumulative GPA for Executive Board.

The Senate passed this bill with the intention of reflecting a greater standard of academic performance for the students who serve as representatives of MTSU.

Since this bill proposal is amending the SGA Constitution, the entire student body will be afforded a vote.
