Middle Tennessee (16-7, 10-2 C-USA) took care of business in a physical game against Louisiana Tech (12-10, 7-4 C-USA). The Blue Raiders defeated the Lady Techsters 68-57 to grab their 7th straight win.

Physicality was the common theme throughout the game. La Tech came into this game looking to be the enforcer. The Blue Raiders were prepared for such a game.

“I knew that they are very aggressive and very athletic basketball team and they just come and get at you physically,” Coach Insell said about the physical play.

Brea Edwards put on a show in this one. The senior guard dropped a career-high 31 points including a career high 6 three-pointers. Edwards also put together a double-double by crashing the boards and getting 11 rebounds.

“Our coaches just told us to attack right from the get-go,” Edwards said about how she put up such good numbers. “I got a lot of open threes from just running down the floor.”

“She hit a couple of big threes at opportune times,” Insell said about the senior.

Ty Petty scored 12 points but her impact in this game came from the defensive end. Petty set her career high in steals with 6 and dished out 5 assists. The junior guard smothered her opponent each and every time they came down the floor. Petty was seeing the floor as a whole well on defense. She began to funnel players away from help which produced many of her steals.

The Blue Raiders took this one at home despite being outrebounded and outscored off the bench. The defense continues to shine night in and night out. They tallied 14 steals and forced and eye-popping 27 turnovers.

Middle Tennessee will host Southern Mississippi (12-9, 5-5 C-USA) Saturday in the annual Play for Kay game. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
