Another game, another solid performance by MTSU senior forward TiAnna Porter.

In Middle Tennessee’s 71-65 victory over Florida Atlantic Thursday night, Porter, who played just 13 minutes off the bench, posted 12 points while tying her career high with eight rebounds.

Early in the first period, Porter scored six points in only 55 seconds to give the Lady Raiders a quick 12-8 lead.

“I’m really proud of her and what she’s doing,” Insell said. “She’s done a great job for us the last two weeks. She’s really done a great job her whole career, but the last two weeks she’s moved her game to another level.”

Porter’s encore outing against FAU comes a few days after having one of her best all-around games at Marshall on Feb. 27.

During that contest, she played a season high 21 minutes while registering a season high 13 points (5-of-6 shooting), two blocks and two steals.

Porter’s efficient scoring the last two games marks the first time in her Lady Raider career that she has scored double digits in consecutive games.

“I’m feeling pretty confident in myself,” Porter said. “This is probably the most confidence I’ve had in myself since I’ve been here, and I’m going to try and keep that up.”

On Thursday night, Porter once again helped solidify a frontcourt that outscored the Owls by a 40 to 16 margin inside the paint, while also helping the Lady Raiders to a 44-32 advantage in rebounding.

The Paris, Tennessee native, is only averaging 3.7 points per game this season, but is currently averaging just 10 minutes off the bench.

Coupled with freshman forward Alex Johnson, Rebecca Reuter and Gabby Lyon, MTSU’s post players could provide a vital boost as the Lady Raiders close out their regular season schedule against Florida International on March 5.
