Upon arrival at the scene, the officer noticed shell casings in the roadway entrance to the apartments.

The officer made contact with a witness that stated that he heard five gunshots outside of his apartment. The witness also stated that he saw a man laying on the ground near the entrance to the apartment complex next to a four-door Sedan. The man laying on the ground then entered the car and drove away, while holding his side. The witness stated that the man in the car appeared to be in pain.

Two MPD detectives then took over the investigation.
