Though the outside temperatures keep dropping, the 2026 spring semester is heating up with campus events. From networking at the student organization fair to Lady Raiders basketball looking to make history, there is something for everyone to do in the first week of school. Here are five January events students won’t want to miss.
Jan. 21 — Spring Student Organization Fair
If a student is looking to join a club, get involved or just make some new friends, this is the event for them. MTSU’s student organization fair hosts a variety of clubs, groups and organizations that give students a place to plug into campus life. The fair hosts over 100 groups, including academic clubs, cultural groups, service organizations and more. Students can stop by the Student Union Ballroom anytime from 1-4 p.m. for the fair.
Jan. 22 — Downtown Broadway in the Boro
Dust off your boots and scoot on down to the Student Union Ballroom for Downtown Broadway in the Boro hosted by MT Unions. This event lasts from 6-9 p.m. and includes Nashville, Tennessee, favorites such as live music and line dancing. For those who want to participate but don’t know how to dance, line-dancing instructors will be available to teach classic moves. To top off the Nashville experience, there will be a mechanical bull in the shape of a guitar, free food, darts, cowboy hat decorating, photo booths and a mocktail bar.
Jan. 22 — Women’s Basketball vs. Delaware
MTSU women’s basketball is in its historic era, with $5 online tickets in anticipation of head coach Rick Insell’s 500th career win. The Murphy Center lights will be shining bright with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. as the Lady Raiders host the University of Delaware. Fans should also expect a night of friendship bracelets and Taylor Swift trivia. Students get in free to all athletic games with their MTSU ID.
Jan. 29 — Men’s Basketball vs. Liberty University
Following a road contest with Jacksonville State University this Saturday, MTSU men’s basketball returns to Murphy Center on Thursday, Jan. 29, to take on Liberty University at 6 p.m. The top two teams in Conference USA will go head-to-head for the number one spot in the conference. The Blue Raiders look to build off a fast start in Conference USA play and take down the first-place Flames.
Jan. 30 — Truck and Tractor Pull
Southern Motorsports Promotions invites everyone to the annual Southern Invitational Indoor Tractor and Truck Pull. Opening Jan. 30 inside Miller Coliseum at 5 p.m., modified trucks and tractors battle in a unique competition of who can pull the most over the longest distance. This event involves the cooperation of vendors, pullers and fans in order to make everything run smoothly. It is a one-of-a-kind spectacle for the South, and something people just have to see to believe. Tickets are available at the door on the day of the event.
