Nashville Predators players, coaches and broadcasters took to social media to voice support for No. 2 MTSU’s club hockey team ahead of its first postseason game.
The team is coming off a solid regular season that saw them go (19-5,18-1 ACHA), good enough for second in the Division III rankings.
Ahead of their first playoff game this weekend, Nashville Predators stars, including center Steven Stamkos and right-wing Luke Evangelista, wished the team good luck in this year’s tournament via a social media post.
“Congratulations on the championship last year and good luck to you and the boys on defending the championship this year,” Evangelista said.
Preds radio play-by-play broadcaster Pete Weber also shared a message on the post.
“I want to wish you all the best of luck in your upcoming tournament play,” Webber said, “Get after it, be aggressive and have a great time.”
The CHS tournament begins on Feb. 26 in Coral Springs, Florida. The Blue Raiders clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament and a first-round bye.
“It means a lot,” MTSU club hockey head coach JJ Murray. “It just means hockey keeps growing in the south. If you have guys playing at the highest level, rooting on a club team that just shows how competitive and how good club hockey is.”
MTSU begins conference tournament play on Friday in the quarterfinals of the CHS tournament.
