At Sidelines, we get “The Best of Both Worlds” with writers like these and readers like you. This week, there was a nice balance of the past and the future as Miley Cyrus returned to the stage for the “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special.” Comic book fans also got the best of both franchises with the reuniting of Spider-Man and Superman. Unfortunately, two in one isn’t always best—as seen in this week’s episode of Survivor.

Miley Cyrus is a rockstar in the ‘Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special’
Miley Cyrus returned to the big screen as one of Disney’s most notable rock stars, Hannah Montana, on March 24.
The “20th Anniversary Special” brought Cyrus back onto several of the Hannah Montana sets, including the living room, bedroom and the iconic closet. The singer answered fans’ burning questions in an interview with “Call Her Daddy’s” Alex Cooper, reunited with several costars from the show, and debuted her new single, “Younger You.”
What truly brought the show together for fans such as myself was seeing Cyrus as Hannah Montana now. People that grew up watching the show were showered in nostalgia, while also comforted with the image of not one, but two—with the surprise Selena Gomez appearance—of their iconic childhood stars grown up and doing well.
The special can be found on Disney+ and Cyrus’ new single can be found on all music streaming platforms. Tucker Young

Marvel’s web-slinging superhero meets DC’s Man of Tomorrow in a new comic
On Wednesday, March 25, a comic book crossover unlike any other was released, featuring iconic superheroes from two different worlds, DC’s Superman and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
The new release celebrates 50 years since the duo’s first crossover, “Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man: The Battle of the Century,” in 1976. This comic not only marks the duo’s initial meeting but also signals a brand-new era for the company, following a 25-year break from major intercompany crossovers.
The comic features illustrations by Jorge Jiménez and a storyline written by Mark Waid from the DC team. This is just one of two crossover comics being released this year, the other being the Marvel team’s crossover, which will be released in April.
Collectors can be on the lookout for this book, which features 26 unique variant covers, each showcasing iconic characters from both franchises.
The comic book can be found at most comic book stores or online for around 8 dollars. Karlie Lohr

‘THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE’ is a RAYE of sunshine
RAYE is giving pop a bright moment again with her newest album, “THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.” Bold, brilliant and unapologetically, she delivers a masterpiece of an album that tells of heartbreak and hope.
The cinematic production of the album, combined with RAYE’S incredible voice and lyricism, makes it a memorable listen. Each track feels intentionally crafted and arranged, allowing her artistry to take her to even higher places.
Listeners can find the album on all music streaming platforms. Yeri Garner

Flatland Cavalry is bringing back bluegrass in ‘Work of Heart’
Flatland Cavalry released their new album “Work of Heart” on March 27, continuing the band’s bluegrass sound in 12 new tracks. The album follows a story of love, loss, and life as the band draws on their own experiences.
One track on the album stands out not only for fans but also for performers themselves. “Life, Love, and Happiness (Entertainer’s Lament),” written by lead singer Cleto Cordero and Jason Nix, almost reads like a letter, encouraging people to stay strong and follow their heart.
With truthful lyricism and homegrown instrumentals, this new work embodies Flatland Cavalry’s music and maintains their down-home sound. Tucker Young

Double elimination and potential merge in ‘Survivor 50’
“Survivor 50” returns with episode five, revisiting the shaken-up alliances and broken trust in the aftermath of the last episode.
This episode’s challenge brought two tribes to Tribal Council, where each tribe chose one member to send home. This marks the first double elimination since “Survivor 41.”
Cila and Vatu tribes lost the challenge, sending them both to Tribal Council. Here, the Cila tribe pulled off “Operation: Bad Blood,” uniting the girls and Rizo Velovic to vote out Charlie Davis. Vatu had a more unanimous decision, voting out Angelina Keeley, who has been on the chopping block for multiple episodes.
The sneak peek into episode six hinted at an early merge, which comes as a shock to viewers since there are still so many people left standing.
