On Sunday, an air conditioning unit complication caused a fire at the MTSU Recreation Center pool, resulting in a mid-day pool closure.

According to the on-duty floor supervisor at the center, Jacob Bailey, the complication was “handled accordingly.” It is unclear as to the exact effect of the technical malfunction that would have caused the unit to catch fire.

There is no current information at this time on how the issue occurred and when the pool will be fully functional.
