BRIGHTON, Tenn. (AP) — A West Tennessee mayor has been indicted for allegedly using city resources for work on his son’s home.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation alleges that 53-year-old Mayor Jeffrey Scott used city personnel and equipment to help with construction work on his son’s house last month.
A Tipton County grand jury returned an indictment Monday charging Scott with three counts of official misconduct and one count of theft over $1,000.
Scott was released from the county jail Tuesday on $5,000 bond.
