The Middle Tennessee State University Police Department and Murfreesboro Fire Department evacuated Peck Hall due to reports of the smell of smoke.

MTSU student Theo Baker was evacuated from his class with other students after the fire alarms went off.

“The fire alarms went off inside Peck Hall at approximately 7:30 p.m.,” Baker said. “When we exited down to the breezeway from our class, it seemed as if something inside the building was smoking. There were no visible signs of a fire, but there was the smell of smoke.”

What caused the smoke is unknown.

“There were two fire engines, approximately two police cars, and a fair number of firefighters checking out the building, specifically the blue side,” Baker said.

This is a developing story.
