Nashville bands brought southern rock to Murfreesboro when The Weeks headlined local nightclub TEMPT Thursday night. Despite the icy conditions, fans prevailed, packing the venue and showing out for a wild time.
The Jackson, Mississippi natives played favorites from their album Dear Bo Jackson and new tunes from the Buttons EP, which was released last year. A highlight of the set was the moody “Hold It, Kid.” The standout from the band’s debut album Comeback Cadillac slowed down the high energy vibe for a short moment.
The set closed with fan favorites “Mississippi Rain” and “Buttons” as fans sang every word along with frontman Cyle Barnes. Guitarist Samuel Dee delivered powerful rock from beginning to end and bassist Damien Bone jumped on the amp while Cain Barnes’ hefty drumming finished everything out.
The show was rowdy Nashville rock at its finest.

The night’s first opening act was rock group The Blackfoot Gypsies. Energetic frontman Matthew Paige took the stage in hometown garb and warmed up the room with his classic country vocals, and their harmonica player, Ollie Dogg, set a soulful mood. They closed out their set with a very bluesy cover of “Happy” by the Rolling Stones.
Ranch Ghost played soon after and were nothing short of a crowd-pleaser. The southern psychedelic rock group lived up to their label with loud, surf rock complete with vibey guitar solos and drawn-out jams lasting much longer than one would hear on their Bandcamp profile.
