Thirteen 9mm shell casings were found in front of an Aspen Heights apartment when police responded to a shots fired call at the student apartment complex early Tuesday morning, according to police reports.

The casings were found in the roadway in front of the row of buildings containing apartments 300 to 400, spread roughly 10 feet apart from one another at approximately 12:25 a.m. Tuesday.

An earlier call had been made to a neighboring building in the complex. According to the report, a resident told the responding officer that she heard what she thought to be fireworks outside her apartment at around 11:15 p.m. When her boyfriend went outside he saw a bullet on the sidewalk.

Police have no suspects at this time.

This is the third reported incident of gunshots at Aspen Heights this year. Four shell casings were found on February 10 and an April 7 dispute resulted in three shots being fired. The complex, located at 1955 Old Castle Drive, is about 2.5 miles from MTSU and primarily caters to students.
