A man living near campus was shot at by several young men after chasing them away from his car Wednesday night, according to Murfreesboro police.

Kenzo Gadie, 34, of South Bilbro Avenue, told police he went outside his house to smoke at around 7:50 p.m. and saw two men standing near his vehicle, according to a police report.

Gadie asked the men what they were doing, and “two more young males popped up from the other side of the vehicle,” the report said. When they started running, Gadie chased after them.

He said that all four men were between 18 and 20 years old, small in stature and wearing dark hoodies. Gadie told police the men might have been black.

They jumped into a white Ford Contour parked on East Vine and started shooting at Gadie, who promptly “hit the ground and laid down.”

Gadie told police the Ford drove away south down First Avenue.
