Hundreds gathered on Tuesday, November 24 to hold a vigil for Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer.

A St. Louis, Missouri Grand Jury returned a “no indictment” verdict against Officer Darren Wilson on Monday, November 23. Nashville residents and others held a candlelight vigil in memory of Brown in front of the Metro Nashville Criminal Justice Center the next night. As the vigil wound down, protesters marched from the CJC on James E. Robertson Parkway to Shelby Street and onto Interstate 24. As protesters lay in the interstate, Metro Nashville police blocked the roadway at both Shelby Street and across the interstate near LP Field.

Metro police passed out coffee, water and hot chocolate to the protesters. The march lasted nearly four hours, ending with the protesters returning to CJC at around 11 p.m.
