The high school football season is winding down and teams have playoffs on their mind. It is a crucial moment in the season during the latter part of the schedule and everyone is fighting for seeding in the playoffs. Here’s a few matchups to watch tonight.

Riverdale at Oakland

The Boro Bash is upon us and both teams have had an impressive season. Riverdale is 5-2 and Oakland is 6-1. Oakland thus far in 2015 is averaging 37 points a game compared to Riverdale’s 23. This is a conference match up and Oakland is currently undefeated in conference matchups and Riverdale has split theirs 2-2.

Despite Oakland’s upper-hand, Riverdale dominates the record between the two schools 32-13. This will certainly be an intense rivalry and one the entire community will be watching.

Union City at Dresden

Another highly anticipated conference matchup. Both teams head into this gridiron matchup undefeated. Also, both teams are ranked in the top 50 teams in the state of Tennessee. This is a very close match up between two high-octane offenses. Dresden comes out of the gates scoring fast and efficient in the first quarter, however, they falter towards the end of games.

Union City on the other hand, starts slow but finishes strong. They also manage the game well with their effective rushing attack, averaging 425 yards per game. The stakes are very high and both teams are trying to avoid suffering their first loss.

Cookeville at Smyrna

Once again, another conference matchup between two dominate teams. This is also another top 50 matchup within the state. Where one team is weak, the other is strong. Cookeville has an aggressive rushing attack while Smyrna has a fast paced passing attack.

Smyrna has their highest scoring quarter going into halftime, while Cookeville has theirs right after halftime in the third quarter. Both teams haven’t received a conference loss this season. The pressure is on for both teams Friday.
