Middle Tennessee (2-1-0) had their hands full Sunday afternoon as they took on No. 1 Florida State (3-0-0) in front of a packed crowd at Dean A. Hayes Stadium. Fans on hand experienced the first time in the team’s 21 year history that they have played host to a top-ranked team.

The intensity of the number one team in the country proved to be too much for the Blue Raiders as they were shutout 3-0 in a game where the weather determined the mood of the matchup.

The two teams were forced to halt play for two hours because of continuous lightning strikes during halftime.

But by that time, the Seminoles had already shot 15 times and had gotten out to a 3-0 lead.

Even after the resume of play, Florida State never let their foot off the gas enough for MTSU to gain the needed momentum.

Florida State came out of the gates hot, striking their first goal within the first five minutes.

Freshman goalkeeper Syndey Chalcraft had her work cut out for her today as Florida State controlled the ball in MTSU’s zone for nearly the whole game.

Chalcraft wouldn’t go down without a fight though as she recorded a career-high 10 saves.

In Thursday night’s matchup against Jackson State, the Blue Raiders did a great job of keeping the ball in their control and creating opportunities for themselves.

Florida State eliminated those chances and turned the tables as the Blue Raider’s left the field at halftime with zero shots on goal compared to the Seminoles eight.

The Seminoles would finish the night with a season high 23 shots with 13 of those being on goal.

As for MTSU, the team put up only two shots in the entire 90 minutes of play, all of which came in the second half.

The Blue Raider’s will rest and regroup until next Thursday when they travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb. The game is expected to start at 7 p.m.
