MTSU released its plans for Womack Commons, a new student housing development, after financing for the project was officially approved, according to a press release sent Wednesday from the university.
The new housing complex is expected to cost more than $56 million and will be built through a public-private partnership between MTSU and housing developers The Annex Group.
Located at the corner of Homecoming Drive and Blue Raider Circle, Womack Commons will house 554 students with semi-suite and suite-style arrangements, with both private and shared bedrooms.
The complex will include a staffed front desk, entry and floor lounges, community kitchens, laundry facilities, private and small group study areas and a landscaped courtyard. Offices for MTSU Residence Life staff will also be located within the building, according to the release.
The new development will replace the Womack Lane Apartments, which were built nearly 60 years ago and housed about 250 students before their demolition.
Womack Commons is expected to more than double the number of students housed in the area, and construction is slated to finish in summer 2027.
