MTSU men’s basketball lost a key piece of the starting lineup as forward Torey Alston entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, according to senior national basketball recruiting analyst at Rivals and On3, Jamie Shaw on X.
Alston finished the 2025-2026 campaign second on the Blue Raiders in points, scoring 13.1 per game. The high-flying forward led MTSU in rebounding with 253 boards, averaging 7.9 per contest, along with 1.1 blocks.
The forward started all 32 games as a redshirt sophomore, shooting 55.5% from the field while earning All-CUSA Third Team honors.
A two-year member of the Blue Raiders, Alston’s standout performance with MTSU came in a 26-point,16-rebound outing against Murray State University in the Cayman Islands Classic.
With Alston’s assumed departure, Middle Tennessee looks to replace multiple pieces of its starting lineup that lost in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA tournament to Louisiana Tech University.
With the graduation of starters Kamari Lands and Sean Smith, the Blue Raiders look to return two starters, Chris Loofe and Jahvin Carter, in 2026-2027.
