Middle Tennessee men’s tennis (22-9) fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to North Carolina State University (17-7), 4-2, marking a Round of 64 exit for the second consecutive year.
The Blue Raiders secured the doubles point, with Ondrej Horak and Antoine Mayoral taking down William Manning and Jules Leroux 7-5.
Seconds later, Karim Al-Amin and Birtan Duran fell 6-4 to Martin Borisiouk and Cody Benton, marking the doubles courts even at one apiece.
Jonasz Dziopak and Houston Jacques fought tooth and nail with Ainius Sabaliauskas and Charlie Camus, defeating the duo in a 7-6 tiebreaker, giving the Blue Raiders the early 1-0 lead.
In singles, Eric Crivei fell 6-4, 6-2, to Camus, giving the Wolfpack their first singles point.
Freddy Murray fell to Darius Pop 6-4, 6-3, with NC State taking a two-courts-to-one lead.
Duran took down Manning 6-2, 6-3, 6-2, evening the match at two courts a piece.
Al-Amin dropped 7-6, 6-4, 6-1 to Leroux, as NC State pulled ahead three courts to two.
Horak fell 6-2, 6-4, 6-4 to Borisiouk, giving NC State the victory and ending the Blue Raiders’ season.
