Blue Raiders add depth in the front court

Sophomore guard Kevin De Kovachich has announced his transfer to Middle Tennessee, according to a post on Kovachich‘s Instagram account on Monday. 

Kovachich has spent the last two seasons as a member of the University of North Alabama. In his sophomore season the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 11.8 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 41% from the field.

The Montreal, Canada, native shot 55.6% from three point range in his freshman season and 33.7% in 2025-2026.

Lady Raiders add Division I forward

Sophomore forward Elisa Mehyar has announced her transfer to Middle Tennessee, according to the MTSU women’s basketball X account.

Mehyar has spent the last two seasons at Oregon State University. The 6-foot-5 forward averaged 1.2 points and 0.9 rebounds this season. Mehyar shot 75% from the field this season while averaging 2.3 minutes a game.

The Copenhagen, Denmark native has two years of eligibility remaining.

Blue Raiders pick up local guard

Sophomore guard Eli Rice has announced his commitment to transfer to Middle Tennessee, according to Rice’s instagram account.

Rice has spent the last two seasons at Penn State University. The 6-foot-7 wing averaged 6.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists this season. Barnett shot 38.5% from the field and 39% from beyond the arc.

Rice originally is from Gallatin, Tennessee, and played with current MTSU guard Jahvin Carter with the Nittany Lions.

Lady Raiders land sharpshooter

Sophomore guard Xai Whitfield has announced her commitment to transfer to Middle Tennessee. Kone has spent last season as a member of the Tennessee State Tigers, according to MTSU women’s basketball on X.

The 5-foot-9 guard averaged 9.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season. Whitfield has spent two seasons with the Tigers and in 2025-2026 shot 45.7% from behind-the-arc.

Matt Insell lands first commitment

Junior guard Mya Kone has announced her commitment to transfer to Middle Tennessee. Kone has spent her last season as a member of the Miami Hurricanes, according to Kone’s Instagram account.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 1.1 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists this season. Before committing to the Hurricanes, Kone played for Florida International University from 2022 to 2025. Including a 21 per game average for the Panthers in 2024, where she shot 40% from three-point range.

Blue Raiders bring in big man

Sophomore center Kaleb Siler has announced his commitment to transfer to Middle Tennessee. Barnett has spent the last two seasons at junior college side Gaston College, according to Silers X Account.

The 6-foot-10 center averaged 19 points, 1o rebounds and 1 block this season. Barnett shot 64.5% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. Siler joins MTSU with two years of eligibility remaining.

Lady Raider starter enters the portal

MTSU women’s basketball guard Macie Phifer has entered the portal, according to a post on X by the Blue Raider Podcast.

The 6-foot-one freshman started all 32 games for the Lady Raiders this season. Phifer averaged 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists. Phifer shot 43.4% from the field and 35.4% from beyond-the-arc. The Ingomar, Mississippi, native enters the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.

Blue Raider sharpshooter enters the portal

MTSU men’s basketball guard Alec Oglesby has entered the portal, according to a post on Oglesby’s father’s X account.

The Gainesville, Florida, native enters the portal with one year of eligibility remaining. Oglesby averaged 8.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists during the 2025-2026 season. The guard shot 40.9% from beyond the arc while putting in 24 minutes a game.

Oglesby was named Conference USA Player of the Week after sinking eight three-pointers against Louisiana Tech on Jan 2, 2026.

Tenured Lady Raider hits the portal

MTSU guard Savannah Davis announced her intent to hit the portal on Thursday, according to a post on Davis’ Instagram account.

The McKenzie, Tennessee native, enters the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining. The sophomore guard averaged 7.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Davis spent the last two seasons with the Lady Raiders, with Davis stepping into a starting role for the majority of the 2025-2026 season.

The highlight of Davis’ career with Middle Tennessee was a career-high 18-point performance against the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Second Lady Raider enters the portal

Lady Raiders guard Yu Han Lin entered the NCAA transfer portal with three years of eligibility remaining on Wednesday, according to a post on Lin’s Instagram account. 

Lin finished the 2025-2026 season with 4.7 points and 1.1 rebounds while shooting 40.2% from the field. Lin averaged 13.6 minutes per game off the bench for the Lady Raiders.

First transfer commitment

Sophomore guard Quinn Barnett has announced his commitment to transfer to Middle Tennessee. Barnett has spent the last two seasons at Division II side Walsh University, according to Barnett’s Instagram Account.

The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 14.6 points, 4 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season. Barnett shot 53% from the field and 41% from beyond-the-arc while leading the Cavaliers to a loss in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championship. Barnett joins MTSU with two years of eligibility remaining.

First Lady Raider enters the portal

Lady Raiders guard Emily Monson announced her intent to enter the NCAA transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining on Thursday, according to a post on Monson’s Instagram account. 

Monson finished the 2025-2026 season with 1.7 points and 1.1 rebounds while shooting 44.2 percent from the field. Monson averaged 8.9 minutes per game off the bench for the Lady Raiders. The guard played for Rick Insell for two seasons after a season at Purdue University.

Starting forward enters the portal

MTSU forward Chris Loofe announced his intent to enter the NCAA transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining on Thursday, according to a post on Loofe’s Instagram account.

Loofe finished the 2025-2026 season with 7.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. The 6’11 Leander, Texas native spent two years with the Blue Raiders and stepped into the starting big man role for MTSU this season following the departure of Essam Mostafa.

Alston hits the portal

MTSU forward Torey Alston entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday, according to senior national basketball recruiting analyst at Rivals and On3, Jamie Shaw on X.

Alston finished the 2025-2026 campaign second on the Blue Raiders in points, scoring 13.1 per game. The high-flying forward led MTSU in rebounding with 253 boards, averaging 7.9 per contest, along with 1.1 blocks.

The forward started all 32 games as a redshirt sophomore, shooting 55.5% from the field while earning All-CUSA Third Team honors.
