Middle Tennessee traveled to Bowling Green to take on C-USA foe Western Kentucky Friday night.

WKU scored first on an unassisted goal from leading shot taker (5 shots) Iris Dunn. The Blue Raiders answered back in the second half, putting the ball in the top left corner of the net. The goal came courtesy of sophomore midfielder Angie Lai, her second of the season, on an assist from junior forward Grace Summers. Lai led the Blue Raider offense with five shots.

Goals were being scored at will as three opportunities were converted in one minute.

Lai was involved on the next MT score as well, as she sent a pass that was headed in the goal by junior forward Brianna Jasenak. The header was good for Jasenak’s first goal of the season.

The Hilltoppers answered by scoring twice in the same minute of Jasenak’s goal. In this minute, WKU’s Dunn scored her second goal of the game, her fourth of the season. Western Kentucky added their third goal of the game from Shayna Dheel that was assisted by midfielder Haley Baldridge.

With the Blue Raiders trailing 3-2, MT junior midfielder Amalie Anderdal had a corner kicked headed in by freshman defender Kathy Thomas. This goal was key as it sent the game to overtime at a 3-3 deadlock.

The game was held tight into the second overtime. The Hilltoppers finished the game with a score from Baldridge in the middle of the box.

With the loss the Blue Raiders fall to 6-7-2 overall and 3-3-1 against C-USA competition.

Middle Tennessee looks to get back on track Sunday as they travel to Huntington to take on Marshall.
