Murfreesboro Police responded to multiple gunshots on West Street on Sunday at approximately 2:51 a.m.

Officers were traveling towards West Street when they first heard what sounded like gunshots coming from that area. An officer then found multiple shell casings on the ground in front of a residence on West Street. The casings were collected and sent to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for processing.

At approximately 5:43 p.m., a second group of officers responded to the scene and spoke with residents on West Street. The residents said that they were asleep during the shooting and did not notice the property damage until that evening. Police counted 23 bullet holes that struck the residence and 2 vehicles that were struck by bullets. Detectives then arrived on the scene and took over the investigation.
