RJ Mitte, star of the multi-award-winning TV drama Breaking Bad, will speak in Tucker Theatre at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday as part of MTSU’s “Breaking Bad Week.”

The event, “An Evening with RJ Mitte,” is the highlight of the university’s week of activities inspired by the hit television series to commemorate National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Mitte, like his character Walter White Jr., is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a disorder that affects muscle tone, movement and motor skills. He will speak about maintaining a sucessful career with the disability, as well as the disadvantages disabled actors experience all too often in his career field.

The 23-year-old actor is the youth spokesman for the National Disability Institute’s Real Economic Impact Tour, a campaign that works with low-income persons with disabilities to help improve their financial situations.

In addition to Mitte’s advocacy for the disabled, he also works on an awareness campaign for the National Center for Bullying Prevention.

The MTSU Disability and Access Center will provide American Sign Language at the event.
