(AP) — Tennessee election officials say voting seems to be going pretty smoothly across the state, but it’s still too early to tell what role the issues and the mild weather played in the turnout.
Blake Fontenay, a spokesman for the Division of Elections, says state officials are not aware of any major problems with voting. An official with the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee, which is tracking voting problems through its website, says so far voters aren’t reporting problems casting ballots.
Voters who head to the polls will decide whether to grant Republican Lamar Alexander a third term. Alexander is facing Democrat Gordon Ball, a Knoxville attorney.
Tennesseans will also be casting ballots on several proposed amendments to the state constitution.
