MTSU has announced a lecture series through VSA Tennessee, a state organization that strives to provide people with disabilities the opportunity to participate in and learn through artistic activities.

The series will include lectures from Guy Gilchrist, co-creator of the cartoon Muppet Babies and cartoonist for the classic comic strip Nancy, as well as actor, author and teacher Estelle Condra and drummer Bob Stagner.

The first speaker, Gilchrist, will be discussing the use of art to address social issues in his lecture on Friday in the College of Education (Room 153).

Condra will perform and discuss performing live with disabilities in the Keathley University Center Theater on on Feb. 20.

Stagner will share techniques on helping those who are disabled or terminally ill young people through percussion during his lecture, also in the KUC Theater.

Each lecture will start at 12:40 p.m. and will be free and open to the public.
