Yet another Winter Weather Warning has been issued for the Middle Tennessee area by the National Weather Service in Nashville, effective from 9 p.m. tonight until noon Thursday.

The consistent rain that began last night is predicted to turn to sleet and freezing rain as temperatures drop precipitously and remain below freezing through Friday afternoon. Snow will mix in overnight.

Sleet and snow will fall most heavily in the area around I-40, at will be at the lowest levels in areas near the Alabama border. Southern areas will receive more ice.

This mixed precipitation–an estimated one to three inches of snow and a tenth to a quarter of an inch of freezing rain–may make travel unadvisable during this time.

Whether MTSU will close campus, as it did five times last month, is unknown, some professors have preemptively cancelled their classes.

Schools in the Nashville Metro and Rutherford County will be closed tomorrow.

In addition to the alerts that are sent to all MTSU email addresses, updates on weather-related closings can be found on the University website, Twitter feed, emergency hotline (615-898-2000), as well as by listening to WMOT 89.5, WQQK 92.1, WGNS 100.5 and AM station WLAC 1510.
