Three MTSU students were injured Sunday morning when shots were fired during a party at the Aspen Heights apartment complex.

Murfreesboro police responded to the shots fired call around 1 a.m., and upon arrival found that one student had been shot in the left arm and left side. The victim told police that he was inside the party and opened the front door to see what was happening outside when he was shot.

According to police, another student had been injured during the shooting and then left the scene. The victim was stopped by police on East Main Street and taken to receive medical attention.

All three MTSU students were taken to a healthcare facility, with one facing life-threatening injuries.

In total, five people were injured during the shooting and no casualties were reported.
