Beginning Tuesday, MTSU will host two events for Nashville’s annual Marine Week including a leadership seminar and special recognition of Marines at Saturday’s football game.

  • Marine Week will start with the Marine Corps Leadership Seminar. It will be held at MTSU on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Emmet and Rose Kennon Sports Hall of Fame building. Marines will discuss leadership techniques and related topics with students and faculty.
  • On Thursday, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Marines and Hands On Nashville volunteers will help prepare food for those in need as part of the Nashville Food Project. At 9:30 p.m., Marine Music will take over the Wildhorse Saloon with Sound Strike, a band composed of Marines. These Marines have been featured at professional sporting events, the Lincoln Center and have recently performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
  • On Friday, “Night at the Opry” will feature Marines along with country favorites such as Billy Ray Cyrus and Crystal Gayle.
  • On Saturday, Marines will be in the stands as the Vanderbilt Commodores take on MTSU Blue Raiders at Vanderbilt. The game will begin at 3 p.m. after a fly-over,  a presentation of the colors by the USMC’s Color Guard and the National Anthem, sung by Capt. Skye Martin. From 5-6 p.m., a parade featuring the Marine Corps band and Silent Drill Platoon will take over Nashville’s Broadway.
