The past couple of weeks have been nothing short of wild for hip-hop’s reigning princess Nicki Minaj. In the midst of a breakup with famous rapper Meek Mill and a heated beef with female rapper Remy Ma, Nicki Minaj dropped three new songs in one night: “Regret in Your Tears,” “No Frauds,” and “Changed It.”
“Regret in Your Tears” is Minaj’s powerful expression of how she is erasing all her past memories with ex Meek Mill. Throughout the track, Nicki touches on the damage that ended their relationship and how she is attempting to make light out of everything and move on.
“Regret in your tears, know you taste ’em.
‘Cause you know I don’t chase, I replace ’em.
Don’t rush, take time, take some.
I just wanted memories, tried to make some with you.
You.
Now I gotta erase some with you.
You.”
“No Frauds” was released in response to Remy Ma’s single, “ShETHER.” The title is derived from Nas’ classic Jay-Z diss track “Ether.” In the same vein, Remy Ma’s song is essentially a 7-minute-long diss track to Minaj.
Remy Ma says,
“Talkin’ about bringin’ knives to a fight with guns,
When the only shot you ever took was in your buns.”
But it was not too long til queen rapper, Nicki fired back with some words of her own.”
Minaj responds on “No Frauds,”
“Sheneneh, you a fraud committin’ perjury.
I got before and after pictures of your surgery.
Rah took you to her doc, but you don’t look like Rah.
Left the operating table, still look like ‘Nah.”
Drake and Lil Wayne also make appearances, making the song a hit. Minaj, Drake and Wayne’s use of wordplay make them a wicked trio; anyone who comes for them better come correct.
Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj go way back. Growing up nearby, these two have always had a little bit of a friendly competition when it comes to the rap game. Recently, Remy Ma made allegations toward Nicki, stating that she stole a line from her, which is the cause of the back and forth beef.
Nicki Minaj joined forces with rapper Lil Wayne to produce “Changed It”. Wayne starts out on the first verse and hits a catchy chorus,
“You can’t say nothin’, you can’t say nothin’
You end up everywhere you say you wasn’t
Is that your boyfriend? Why you say that’s your cousin?”
Nicki Minaj takes off in the second verse, firing shots at anyone who has fired at her. Before the end of the song, Lil Wayne makes sure to give a shoutout to his Young Money team by including Nicki, Drake and himself. These three have made it apparent that they plan to continue their reign together, and we should expect some new heat soon.
