On Tuesday night, several students took part in Middle Tennessee State University’s Alpha Kappa Psi third annual Dancing with the Brothers event.

Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed business fraternity. The organization is open to all majors and aims to “help students with public speaking, resumes, cover letters, feeling more confident when they speak, and how to ace an interview, basically shaping people, shaping business. Joining an organization like this isn’t hard.

“We usually have a rush week that we have people look out for. There’s this week of a series of events that promote our core values of brotherhood, unity, service, knowledge, education, etc.,” James Hampton, Alpha Kappa Psi Vice President of Membership, said.

Alpha Kappa Psi’s goal for their event was to bring out the entire campus to come and spend some time with the brothers and to get to know them.

“Just to open us up to the community and to show them that we’re a welcoming organization, anyone can join,” Shaylaine Roker, Alpha Kappa Psi President-Elect, said.

Shanan Mckenzie a former MTSU graduate, and a two-year Alpha Kappa Psi member, teaches the choreography.

The choreographer is Shanan Mckenzie, a former MTSU graduate, and a two-year Alpha Kappa Psi member. Since being in the organization, Shanan felt that he has learned a lot in professionalism and how to be collaborative.

“I take a lot of pride in Alpha Kappa Psi,” Mckenzie said.

To conduct an event like this brings Mckenzie a lot of joy.

If you are interested and want to apply, students can always find the application in the bio of their Instagram.
